  Served at a dinner party after many wines and following another older Napa old vine zin so this is just a general impression. Nice aromatics and good fruit flavors dominate. There is nice extraction but with a sense of elegance and refinement. Fairly broad finish which is smooth and satisfying. That said the wine did not seem fully integrated, there was was a bit of a hole with some rough edges between the front palate and the mid which detracted a bit from the overall experience. Having not tasted this at release I suspect that this may just be corrected (hopefully) with more bottle age. If it does my score would go up accordingly. Of note others tonight liked it a bit better then me.... I would love to try this again in about 5-6 years and i don't think there is much risk in waiting. Went back to read the back of the bottle today before posting. Quite the story with a fortunate happy ending for the Lamborn Family -always good to earn of such outcomes.

  Really delicious Zin! Much more balanced and integrated now vs the first time we tasted it a little more than a year ago. The time in bottle has really helped to soften the tannins and help the mid palate evolve. Lots of black cherry, raspberry and a touch of the Zin spice hit on all cylinders! A touch of leather on the end. Didn’t decant this time but I would imagine that Would only help. Paired with Italian dinner (lasagna).

  Certainly a very nice wine. We had this 3rd of the night so it's possible my palate was a little overwhelmed, but it was less impressive than I expected. Very dark and earthy in the Howell mountain way, but less of the explosive fruit I've seen from lamborn in the past.

  ZAP TRADE TASTING, nose of briar, dark fruit, and heat, same on the palate, rich fruit, intense fruit, mouth filling fruit, touch simple.
