At our annual Wine Group End of Year Lunch. In a group of Australasian chardonnays this stood out for its pristine fruit and balance with a pale green gold colour and a complex nose of white peach, freshly cut pear, lemon and grapefruit citrus notes . There are touches of nuts and oatmeal on the nose and palate that add a nice savoury touch. There is beautiful balance with plenty of drive and symmetry to this wine that distinguished it from the best of the local chardonnays.

At La Cagouille, Paris. This wine again opened as a serious quality white burgundy that matched the occasion with a pale green gold colour and a complex nose of white peach, freshly cut pear, lemon and grapefruit citrus notes leading into hazelnuts and touches of honey and butter. The palate is rich and complex with fine fruit balanced by savoury touches of nuts and oatmeal. There is plenty of matiere and grip here that provides a long aftertaste. Quintessential Meursault.

At a private dinner, Little Cove, Noosa. This wine opened as a serious quality white burgundy with a pale green gold colour and a complex nose of white peach, freshly cut pear, lemon and grapefruit citrus notes leading into hazelnuts and touches of honey and butter. The palate is rich and complex but it avoids overripeness or exoticism but rather it achieves balance and drive through a gripping minerality and matiere. A lovely Meursault in the early phases of its development.

A 65th Birthday Celebration (Schur House - Riverwoods IL): Small glass. Rich apple and pear throughout, while also fresh and vibrant. Lots here, very good length. Upside from here.

Very fine again. Early to be drinking, fruit is still wrapped-up in the tannins. Notes of of white flower and lime peel. 91-92.
