  • Violet petals, ripe strawberries, bramble, ripe raspberries and salt on the nose. Mostly the fruit with just a hint of mineral flavors. The palate adds a noticable sweetness, and notes of soy sauce, cedar and vanilla. There is a higher intensity of aromas than of flavors; while texturally it feels "big" on the palate. In summary, it has the frustrating ability to be full bodied but not intense.

Full bodied with medium acid and medium - tannin. Drink now; will not benefit from further aging.

This is below average but really just a hair below average. In my heart of hearts it's probably a 77 or 78; but the price is great and it's relatively food friendly. (It worked fine with carne asada tacos). This is exactly what you’d except to get if you order the “house red” at a restaurant in Spain for like €3. It's also varietally correct for Grenache.

Day 2 - I agree with the reviewer who noted the staying power - this is almost exactly the same. Maybe a touch of vinegar on the nose but otherwise identical.

  • A solid, sturdy, Spanish red. Entry level Spanish reds are probably the best value wines available for under $10.

That said, this wine does not rise above all the other 2015 Spanish reds available at the same price.

Got this one for $9 at Grocery Outlet. Again, a solid value for under $10.

  • I'm impressed by the staying power of this otherwise":OK" garnacha.
Not particularly a head-snapper, rather an easy-drinking red that actually holds up for several days after opening (we drink lots of different bottles -- we're not "serial oenophiles"...)

We'll probably pick up a few more bottles just for fun.

  • Suckling gave this a 91 which means not a lot to me but it is pretty tasty. Tarter than your average grenache/garnacha but bursting with red fruit. Red plums, cherries of many sorts, a little herbal brightness. Really nice with the "burnt eggplant" soup from the Ottolenghi cookbook. 14% abv so probably not as ripe as those galet-planted vines in France.

  • My kind of juicy extracted slightly trashy (ie crowd pleasingly non intellectual) syrup with a poweder coated finish. Old vine garnacha.
