The grapes come from old vines from 1947 from the very famous vineyard Vigna Rionda.
Fantastic and very distinctive aromas with this wild deep salt complexity and coarse soil that creates desire. Beautiful concentrated red berries and rose bushes that refresh in the background. Beautiful lightning-sharp touch on this nice full-bodied wine with fabulous solid redberry fruit, which nevertheless appears elegant and refined. Beautifully sharp soil and spices lift the wine. Nice acidity and firm tannins that require some time in the cellar to soften. Great finish. Superb wine. 97 points.

Davide Rosso’s mother, Ester Canale Rosso inherited this amazing parcel of the Vigna Rionda, one of the best vineyard sites in Barolo, on the death of her cousin, Tommasino Canale in 2010. Davide Rosso decided to replace a large part of the old vines that had become "exhausted" (about 0.80 hectares), preserving the part of the vineyard planted in 1946 (over 0.40 hectares ). From these seventy years old vines, characterised by very low yields, he makes this fabulous Barolo Vigna Rionda. About these vines, Davide says “only those roots so deep can tell the story of this vineyard”. This iconic parcel has been legendary for many years, thanks to the quality grapes and subsequently the wine that Aldo and Tommaso sold to some of the greatest producers in the region, most notably Bruno Giacosa and Giuseppe Mascarello.
