Dark blood red with high optical density and high specular reflectivity. The nose is a bit closed, with some red plum, prune, and a bit of aromatic earthy florals. Medium bodied on the palate, with medium minus acidity, and just a touch of tannin on the back end. Has a fairly water-like texture with a juicy character; a very open framework that is perhaps a bit flimsy. Flavours of red cherry and plum on the attack, with good intensity and low complexity. The midpalate stays with the fruit, but adds in some more interest, with earth and forest meadow flowers adding in. Very much builds interest on the palate. The final transition has a bit of spice (herbal, like basil and sweet tobacco leaf). Finishes clean and juicy, with a short length that shows stewed red fruits and porous gravel.
This is an entirely pleasant wine, with an easy-going nature that is well balanced and nice overall. Is not a deep and complex wine, but definitely one that is quite ripe, yet restrained. For sure, there is a candied/stewed fruit character, but not so hot that everything is lost. Enough freshness here to complement the ripeness, but still a very tenuous structure. Still, a solid wine that is fun enough, just not a profound and memorable one.
