Beautiful Volnay at its peak. Still good fruit but with complexity and mature notes but still very nicely balanced. Years left. Great example of the silkiness of top volnay

Slow-oxed four hours. Expressive nose of red currants, cherries, and flowers. Really nice aromatics. The palate is medium bodied and silky textured, and there's a pretty solid block of very fine tannin remaining. The fruit is still young in character and buffers the tanning pretty well, but it clamps down some on the finish. This was a good showing, but to me this wine is still a few years away from the early side of its mature drinking window.

This bottle was drinking better than any in the past. Blueberry and sous bois on the nose, and this is showing a velvety texture now with about 2 hours of air. Full bodied, viscous, and less like a Zinfandel than others that I've experienced. Bottle variation or age?

From my passive, but Wisconsin cellar. Firm and ripe. Black cherry over slate. The tannins are throughout, but are impossibly fine and embedded. Needs three to fifteen years. Like Jadot, are these ever ready? It was a treat though nonetheless and I’m excited for the next. Classy. 91

(Marquis d'Angerville Volnay Fremiets) A tight and clean nose. This has more tannin, but it is soft and cuddly tannin. There is darker fruit here - very well presented - but I have slight preference for the ‘basic’ 1er cru over this.

Could go another ten years. Good structure, drinkable now, but can benefit form more age. The fruit is hanging on
