Restrained nose. Pleasing, but anonymous, red/black fruits (cherries?). Savoury, meaty notes, dusty tannins, and balanced juicy acidity on the medium length palate. It softened and improved with time in the glass and was better with food (Boeuf Bourguignon). After the meal, given a bit more time, the nose opened quite nicely and more fruit emerged together with slight hints of liquorice. It was good next day. Good value when on a £10 offer at Waitrose but much less so at the normal £16.

{cork, 14%} Straightforward dusty, faintly black-fruited wine. Not much oak, medium acid. Medium dusty tannins, fruit restrained somewhat in the old world style.

More meaty, savoury qualities than some of the disappointingly thin Crozes-Hermitages I've had from Cave de Tain. Definitely worth a tenner in Waitrose's annual promo but i wouldn't pay the £16 full price.

Good Crozes-Hermitage in classic restrained N Rhone Syrah style. Ready now. Not a long keeper

It's fine, smooth, balanced, but lacking any character to me. Some blackcurrant fruit.
