Group dinner with Marvin (The Kenwood): This wine seemed like a modern Napa cabernet. The profile is large, with lots of fruit, baked blueberry dominating. Very tasty in a fruit-forward way. Maybe a touch hot.

P: Integrated minerals with dark red and blue fruits, integrated fruits with damp and deep earth.
The amount of integration this shows is shocking as it is kinda young still. Never heard of this producer and my first time was pretty awesome. Can an off bottle be off in a good way?! .. nah, can't be. This was pretty good.

Friendly get-together - Big CA Wines!: This wine reminds why I like the 2016 vintage! This was decanted for a few hours (can't remember if it was 3 or 4) per the winery's recommendation, and it was singing from the get-go! Lots of wonderful Napa black and red fruit on the nose with some lavender notes, some chocolate and hints of toasty oak. The palate was very expressive and the purity of the fruit shown through with some milk chocolate and sweet toasty oak, and hints of graphite. I probably enjoyed this more than others! A solid 94 for me, and should develop more nuances with some additional age. Drink with a long decant or hold.

Dinner with Marvin (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN): Very dark red/purple color. Followed a glass for 30 minutes. Ripe blackberry, plum, volatile, blackberry liqueur palate, green, young. ICD. Currently lacks balance and has a strong green character. Maybe this comes together with a couple more years? No Score.

The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It tastes like cherry, plum and medium toast. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Wine weekend in the Twin Cities; 11/10/2022-11/12/2022 (Where the frosty air is refreshing.. kind of): N: A dark earth with some spice, dark red fruits and a slight heat. Mostly earth while the fruit is more on the subtle end in the background.
