  • This was definitely interesting - kinda fruity (red/black cherries), yet has the structure/complexity to hold it up. Started off pretty simply, but became more "intellectual" with air/time in the glass. Hope (as Coteaux is not what I buy/collect) to have the chance to re-visit this again with more cellar-age.

  • From the legendary 2-acre lieu-dit in the centre of Aÿ. Two hours after opening, this is still a tight and youthful wine even at ten years old, slender and energetic, with aromas of flowers, bright red fruit and a whiff of black cherry; there is a welcome hint of warmth from the wood, the palate is fresh and flowing with gently grippy tannins and a hint of cream; the finish displays notes of earth and liquorice and has excellent drive and length. (92). An hour of decanting relaxes the wine and opens up and deepens the aromas, and this also puts the stems (100% whole bunch fermentation) in a clearer perspective. It's not a luscious wine, it is intellectual rather, but is has real backbone and probably just enough creamy roundness to allow this to go on. It would be so nice to revisit this in ten years - from magnum preferably...

  • Vintus Trip preceeded by 2 days in Paris; 4/14/2023-4/20/2023: @ Rôtisserie Henri IV

12% ABV from Mag - Red Cherry, rather structured out the gate. This out of mag is an extreme baby. Red cherry popsicle aromas. Medium minus tannin. With time open in the glass. Aka one hour. The mineral note starts to pop substantially.

  • Saturday evening at ES BK with Davyd Ramblings gang. Drank in Grassl Cru. Tasted blind.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose meidum intensity, with aromas of smoke, light tar, asphalt creosote, tarry earth. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium- alcohol (12%), glossy high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet juicy succulent red cherries, rosewater, glossy dark red berries, smoke and tar, smoky stones minerals and funky earth. Long grippy tannins with glossy dark red cherries and a leathery note.
Very good quality. Amazing intensity for 12% alcohol, but otherwise quite an oddball wine. Tough to pick out as Pinot Noir.

  • Parecchio ridotto all’apertura, migliora con il tempo ma non decolla mai. Il coteaux champenois di Egly ouriet gioca in un altro campionato
