Drank at La Paulee in NYC. This village level Gevrey is very good. While a great vintage, the levels of opulent complexity suggest a very long life ahead. While I did not have the opportunity to decant ahead of time, this wine would have even been better had I done so.

Served blind, and I managed to guess Gevrey-Chambertin and 2005. Very sound Pinot-fruit here and som manly spice took me there. Well balanced, unforced, delicate - needs a bit of air to really show the fruit. A small glass spend the night in an open bottle on the porch, on day 2 no sign of fatigue, the fruit is more forward and there is a cool 2005 feel to it. Oak well integrated. Approachable, but still young #from HSA#lunch#H&N&Co.

Translucent ruby with rusty hints. Fulsome nose of sea air, nostril-filling violets, fine iron filaments, red berry. Layers of dense, extroverted (I would say joyous) red raspberry and black cherry fruit bursting on the tongue with youthful ripeness barely reigned in by structure. Texture nonetheless has some velvet to it. Brisk, youthful acidity and firm tannin bolstered by noticeable but for the most part integrated oak notes. Long finish of fresh, echoing red berry anchored in fine iron. Ahh, a 2005 open for business. Early, but open.

Decanted 2 hrs. Notes of cherry, black raspberry, graphite, and spice. The wine is very well balanced with well integrated tannins and long finish.

Again, a great wine! I have just seen the 2022 EP price: £62 with duty and VAT to pay. I am sure it was half that just a few years ago.
