Sixth bottle from a seven bottle lot purchased at the Domaine in 2019. Still drinking very well, but the oak is starting to show a bit more in this delicate and flowing wine, it is not as seamless as it was two or three years ago. Drink soon.

A business lunch (Restaurant De Lage Vuursche, Lage Vuursche, NL): Fifth bottle from a seven bottle lot purshased at the Domaine in 2019. Classical nose, elegant weight and structure, silky and flowing. Drinking perfectly, no upside from here. Great to share this rare bottle with white Burgundy aficionado Frank Herreveld.

Fourth bottle from a seven bottle lot. Decanted for one hour. Displays the striking, silky finesse which is rarely found in other wines than the Grands Crus of Chassagne and Puligny and the adjacent Premiers Crus. It doesn't have the authority of the "Vrai Montrachet" however, nor the price tag. Note: Steen Öhman has written a well-researched article on winehog.org about the 1921 court ruling in which the five cadastral plots which now make up Dent de Chien were denied the right to use the name "Montrachet" on the label. The other nine plots of Dent de Chien (above the Thénard and Prieur plots 32-34 in Le Montrachet) were included in the Grand Cru. And the rest, as they say, is history.

A feels almost sinful to drink so many bottles of this very rare wine in just a few months, but it is so beautiful now, showing all the elegance and finesse of the exquisite terroir, the very sensitive wine making, the salty minerality and the playful fruit with its tropical edge, the bright but creamy texture with a touch of savoury oak, and the freshness and precision on the finish. Marvellous stuff.

Marries elegance and intensity, playful and refined, well-defined, lovely interplay of fruit and oak, excellent flavours and length. Clearly Grand Cru material, except for a slight lack of power and drive. Drink now - 2023.
