Dark ruby with a translucent core. On the nose, medium + intensity, with dark cherry, citronella, and freshly tilled earth. On the palate, it’s bone dry with flavors of dark, tart cherries, bergamot, with leather, dried herbs and spices. Medium+ tannin (nearing high) and medium+ acid. Long, long finish. Tremendous texture and perfect balance. This is a stunning Chianti Classico. No Riserva was made in 2017 due to yields so the CC got all of the best juice. It shows. I wish I would have bought every bottle I could find…
Medium bodied, generic Chianti Classico. Fairly clear tannins and moderate acid gives a harmonious result. Hints of dark chocolate presents depth behind the fruit.

Consistent with my note of 14 months ago, i.e. hasn't really budged: "Easily in the top quartile of wines from this vintage and appellation. I was left scratching my head as I was set to believe that 2017 could only produce 'so much' quality in a trying vintage - this wine easily deflated that notion. Very juicy, with great energy, and balance. This is 90% Sangiovese with 5% Malvasia Nera, 5% Canaiolo; ~ 60k bottles produced. The color is just brilliant, as are the welcome accents of truffle, dust, and tar. One of my favorite '17s from this appellation; drink 2020-2031. highly recommended
A very well made Chianti in a difficult year, love the pure red cherry and softer tannin, fresh acid made this bottle disappear quickly; very solid QPR.

Friendly, nice fruit, modest concentration, some tannins and good bitters to mark the end of each sup, but sufficient to make this (slightly chilled) a nice summer wine.
