Despite the challenging year, this Carter is showing well. Dark reddish purple fruit, cassis, blackberry, dark cherry, and some plum. Showing well with plenty of live ahead of it.

This phenomenal wine falls right into my palate wheelhouse. It is smooth and velvety with impressively integrated (mild but with a kiss of grip) tannins. This might be young but it is drinking great right now. After 3 sips I was thinking I might need to acquire a case. One of the best wines I have had in a long time.

Napa 2021 Trip; 5/10/2021-5/13/2021 (Napa Valley, CA): Out of all the Carters from the tasting, this was my least favorite. The nose was incredible, but unfortunately the flavors and finish were not as good as the others in the lineup. Not sure if it's a vineyard thing or just the vintage.
There hour decant. Ripe, ripe, ripe red current, cherry and plum fruit with baking spices, vanilla. Besides the insane fruit, this wine's hallmark is in its texture. Smooth, plush, luxurious...I don't know how the tannins got so ripe and integrated. I don't know if I've had anything like this before.

Tasted alongside a 2017 Realm The Bard and a 2013 Spottswoode. The Weitz was the star of the show for the majority of the 4 individuals tasting. It was rich, silky and elegant with layers and layers of deep red fruit and vanilla on the nose along with some caramel and pie spice on the palate. It is amazing how Carter is able to make these wines so approachable in their youth and we look forward to seeing how they age.
