2017 Domaine Alary Cairanne La Brunote was fresh, meaty and balanced. The Grenache-based Rhône blend was medium ruby in colour, with aromas of bright red fruits like raspberries and red cherries, followed by toast, Provençal herbs and subtle meatiness. On the palate, the wine was dry and medium-bodied, with medium level of acidity and medium-low level of soft tannin. Flavours of liqourice, cream and violets were present in the finish of medium length. The wine consisted of 70% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and 10% Carignan, co-fermented in stainless steel tanks, matured in concrete tanks for 18 months and in bottle for 6 months before release.

Ton of mouvedre in there, and carignan too. Smells and tastes more mourvedre then cote du rhone. Or rather more bandol than cote du rhone.
