  • Dussort cultivates three hectares of Bourgogne Blanc in the municipality of Meursault, divided into around 20 plots, the age of the vines varying from 15 to over 60 years. He makes a selection at harvest time according to their age and their geographical situation which is used to make two batches that are vinified separately.
One wine is made from vines aged 15 to over 25 years, the “Cuvée des Coutures”; and a second from vines aged at least 50 years, the “Cuvée des Ormes”.
The plots used for the Cuvée des Ormes are located in the areas known as les Pellans (a village site next to Les Charmes Dessous) and les Malpoiriers, les Dressolles and En l'Ormeau, all at the other end of the village (all village sites). Basically, these lieux-dits are just the wrong side of the tracks and hence fall into the Bourgogne Côte d'Or AOC!
The wine is aged for 12 months in barrels on the lees, racked off once and assembled in a single vat before bottling. This takes place at between 18 and 20 months, depending on the vintage.
Dussort calls this his flagship wine! Does it stack up as such? A bit like a NV Champagne being the test of a good Champagne producer.
    Colour: light gold, bright, clear.
Nose: full, fresh, ripe, good varietal notes, some of the broadness that I associate with Meursault and elegant.
Taste: light/med body, fresh, rounded, good acidity, ripe, elegant varietal fruit, not much oak (good!), med finish, ripe, good fruit but dry, almost a bit mouthwatering.
Overall, very good and essentially a Village wine. Did not develop well though over a couple of hours. I love the vineyard names: under the elm (ormeau), bad pear trees (?) malpoiriers... Indeed Cuvée des Ormes suggests that En l'Ormeau is the main component.
