  • The Rhone comparisons are spot on. This is tasty, albeit it a bit atypical from other Bedrock Heritage wines. Savory and herbal components along with red fruits. Blind, one would have a hard time clocking it as a Zinfandel blend. As long as you know what you're getting into when you pop one, it's a fun ride! Two left that I'll probably keep for a bit to see what happens.

  • PnP, consumed over 2 hours. Appearance: Clear, medium-deep ruby with no edge browning or clouding - still youthful in appearance. Nose: Clean, medium+ intensity with aromas of blackberry, red currant, lilac, sage, black pepper, and cinnamon. Palate: Dry, medium acid, gum-smacking pronounced grippy tannins, medium+ body, medium intensity, 14.0% abv with developing flavors of black raspberry, strawberry, and spice with a medium+ finish.

    Balance: Excellent
    Length: Excellent
    Intensity: Very Good
    Complexity: Excellent-Outstanding

The beasts that are Zinfandel and Petite Sirah mated and created a beautiful baby here. Petite Sirah on its own is quite monolithic - big, dark, and tannic but combined with the zesty and peppery red fruit notes provided by Zinfandel a uniquely complex and delicious wine was created here - hats off to Morgan. Still very youthful at 7+ years, drinking well upon opening today - likely better in 2-3 years.

  • As others have noted, this is kind of a different animal from the Bedrock stable. On the pop 'n pour this showed raw, earthy notes, and tannin - almost like chewing on dirty skins. Still, there was good focus on the mid-palate and it was pretty intriguing. After vacuum sealing and trying the next evening, this showed some blackberry to go along with the earthy notes, with still prominent tannin. I think it was best at this point, as the next evening, this seemed to lose something and was not very appealing. Interesting red, but not one of the best from Bedrock.

  • A Bedrock unicorn wine. Very different from the rest of the Bedrock line up. More Rhône than California. Tannic structure to age.
Black cherry, baking spices, orange oil.
I find it enjoyable now, but could see this aging 10+ yet.

  • Black cherry, black pepper and smoke, almost Cote Rotie-like.
