Rich and rosy despite the cork disintegrating upon opening. The color and nose didn’t live up to the expected taste but got better with time. Still, even though it should have had time, the cork was past its prime.

Intimate Dinner Series: Domino and I Commemorate 15 Years w/Great 2001s (Gen Hoe, Geneva): Opaque color. This has a woinderful bouquet which immediately captivates me and holds my attention. Leather, currants, tobacco, red plum and earth. Medium-bodied with surprisingly sweet red fruit- almost candied but thoroughly enjoyable, its sweet in the very best way. Vibrant and pure with a long finish. Develops a wonderful herbal note to go with the red fruit aromas. Red fruit on the palate remains bright and exuberant. This should continue to drink well for a few more years.

This finished as WOTN about a year ago at the same restaurant at the first dinner in this series. It is very easy to see what the folks at Peter Michael saw in this vineyard and why they purchased it (Au Paradis is made from this vineyard).

This is easily the most complex wine here tonight. Aromas of plummy dark fruit, iron and tobacco, this hearkens to Bordeaux but then the fruit kicks in a bit more and you know this is CA. Fully-integrated and well-balanced, this shows red plum, dark berry fruit, iron and lavender qualities that linger through the finish. This bottle is firing on all cylinders tonight and it is flat out gorgeous. Bravo!

Really enjoyed this wine at this time. As the fruit and tannins have begun to subside, there remains a wine of beautiful structure and harmony. There are no jagged edges and the wine is poised to complement food rather than to fight with it. A really nice example of a harmonious california cabernet.

Left to breathe for 3 hours but not decanted. Consistent with previous TN. Cassis and some licorice on the nose. Medium plus body with a very smooth mouthfeel and nice balance. Nice red fruit with notes of tobacco and chocolate. The finish is moderate with integrated tannins. Very good wine which is still drinking very well. Good value.
