What a fantastic Zin, this is drinking very well right now. It has the solid Zin profile and core fruit without the clownish high alcohol levels and gloppy extract typical of many Central Coast Zins. Excellent QPR, but no longer available, wish I had more. Evidence that Caparone can age beautifully.

No, it's not necessarily a fine wine, but it is great for what it is; a powerful, rustic food wine. Good clarity that shows a little age. Blue fruit and wood on the palate. Rich mouthfeel that balances food. It has an assertive grapey tanginess that says it's not yet over the hill. Pair this with spicy, rich, assertive foods.

Drank casually within much notice. Quite good, but not rating as highly as I did a month ago.

Time has treated this wine well. I enjoyed it so much that I finished it rather than taking notes.
