  • Vin i Nord Blind BYO; 4/30/2017-5/1/2017 (Tords house): Nose with honey, red fruit, hung meat, crowberry and bird blood. The palate has a lot of the same nuances plus some spices and coffee. Nice textured wine. Had probably been even better with a nice game meal.

  • Somewhat translucent and slightly developed black cherry color tending towards a mature figgy hue. The nose is ripe, meaty and enjoyably nuanced with aromas of blackberry marmalade, brambly black raspberries, some smoky bacon tones, a little bit of sour red plums, light licorice tones, a hint of sweet blackcurrant and a touch of mocha oak. The wine is moderately developed yet still super-juicy and very fruit-forward with moderately full body and lively flavors of blackberry-driven dark fruits, some plummy tones, a little bit of sweet smoke and meaty bacon tones, light brambly fruit, a hint of dusty earthiness and a touch of espresso. The structure relies more on the moderately high acidity than on the ripe and quite resolved tannins that offer mostly texture, not much grip. The finish is rich, textural and juicy with quite long and somewhat developed flavors of wizened blackberries, some dark plums, a little bit of peppery spice, light bacon notes, savory hint of woody oak and a touch of stony mineral bitterness.

This Hermitage seems to have continued developing nicely from the last time I had it (almost exactly four years ago), becoming less bitter and angular, into something sweeter and more textural. Overall the wine wine isn't peaking yet, but most likely there isn't that much room for further development, so I assume it's safe to say the wine is close to its peak. Very enjoyable, rich and smooth, yet with enough freshness and sense of structure that the wine is wonderfully balanced from the beginning to the end. The oak tones that occasionally distract me in Jaboulet wines have integrated quite wonderfully with the fruit. Overall a very nice and harmonious Hermitage and great value at 35,79€.

  • Balanserad och fin ekintegration, lagom nedslipad tanninstruktur. Kött, körsbär, peppar och svarta vinbär i smaken. Mycket bra!
