Slight oxidation on the nose, yet the colour is bright, palate has plenty of youthful acid and tannin. Still a bit closed, like 2005 Bordeaux one wonders if this will ever be complete, the core of acid is so tight.
Mercifully free of heavy handed oak.
13% ABV, sealed with cork.

NobleRottersSydney - Cellar Treasures (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): {cork, 13%} (Glenn) No decant. An initial mustiness raised the TCA spectre, but it seemingly blew off to reveal vaguely stewed blackberry fruit, with minimal oak. The palate still retained some mustiness; the wine ticked all the medium boxes with some gritty tannins; but over time the attenuated finish and scalped quality to the flavours constantly nagged at me that this wasn’t quite right. Not convinced.

Nicely balanced wine, refreshing weight and ripeness, not too lean and floral as some Northern Rhones can be, nor meaty and dense. Quite modern, but in a good sense. Quite fine.
That said it is only just starting to blossom. This is a slow developer. Ideally wait until 2016 to try the next bottle.

Guy's St Joseph Offline (RSJ, Coin Street, London): Still very youthful looking with a deep ruby core and little rim. Nose is reticent - with some spicy dark fruit showing, a slight bitter edge. Palate is very tannic, youthful, some attractive blackberry and blackcurrant fruit but reined in still by its tannic structure which currently dominates and foreshortens the finish. Needs time. **(*)?
