I have the same impression as in my last note, but this bottle was in better shape. Nothing volatile, and the fruit was a bit richer. It was lovely, but still a touch underwhelming. Of course, I've got high expectations for the OG Williams Selyems from the Burt years, and this was by all objective measures a healthy, vibrant, perfectly appropriate pinot at 27 years old. Not at all tired, and pretty in spots too.

Moderate red fruit and perfume on the nose. Quite transluscent in the glass - deep red core, red and clear in the glass with orange at the rim. At the opening this was slightly volatile, with what I describe as perfume giving an alcohol-infused potpurri element to a light, but not delicate, wine. It's got subtle acid giving it nice bones, but it needs an extra gear that's not there to make this one of the special ones.

The 95 Olivet Lane is dark and smokey with dark cherries, underbrush, minerals, wild herbs and earth. Palate is dark, rich and sweet. The sweetness is a bit port-like. Not a good representation of the Burgundian-style wine Burt Williams made in that era. Other 95 Selyem I had were much better.

Quite evolved in colour, slightly cloudy. On the nose expressive and layered - candies fruit, spices, earth, smoke. Very intriguing and quite beautiful. On the palate at first really vibrant - lots of acidity, lovely fruit, resolved tannins, very good length. Wonderful. Lost most of its vibrancy however as the night went on, so I’d recommend to drink up. 93-95
