This tasting features Pinot Noir, as Delphine is from Burgundy, France. The wines tonight featured two white starter wines:
2014 Leeuwin Artist Series Chardonnay 2015 Gerard Thomas Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Murgers des Dents de Chien
The red wines were as follows (2 hour decant in jars before pouring in glasses for consumption):
2010 Albert Bichot Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru 2010 Marcassin Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard 2015 Landmark Pinot Noir Kosich Vineyard 2013 Domaine Drouhin Laurene 2013 Domaine Serene Two Barns 2015 Christophe Violot-Guillemard Pommard 1er Cru, Les Épenot 2014 Wind Gap Pinot Noir
This was an interesting single blind tasting with a few surprises! The group's WOTN was the 2015 Landmark Pinot, followed by the 2013 D. Serene Two Barns and the 2010 Marcassin. My Order was as follows: WOTN 2010 Marcassin followed by Two Barns, Landmark, 2013 Drouhin Laurene, 2010 Albert Bichot Charmes Chambertin, 2015 Christophe Violot-Guillemard Pommard 1er Cru, Les Épenot, and the 2014 Wind Gap. All wines were very good - excellent!
2015 Landmark Pinot Noir Kosich: This wine was a pleasant surprise. It was the group's number 1 wine and my number 3. The wine had a wonderful nose, with black raspberry and clove, and a touch of toasted oak. On the palate, the wine showed excellent balance between velvety tannins and lively acid, tipped ever so slightly to the acidic side, and also balance between dark fruits and secondary flavors of clove, earth and a tinge of leather. This wine also had a very nice long finish, which I found enjoyable. This wine rates 93+....a very good Pinot Noir at an excellent price point.

A nice, refreshing pinot. Good deep dark fruit with coffee, soy, but light bodied with tight acid. Perhaps a little too cutting (Carneros fruit), but quite good. Kind of a cross between Russian River (umami and cola) and Carneros (acid). Very good.

Great balance. Will benefit from a little more time in the bottle, but great now too.

Velvety with well structured tannins. Violets and clove. Lasting frame of delight.
