This is definitely enjoyable, though not sure I would call it typical Chambolle; the color is dark especially considering the age; the nose initially has some menthol and wood spice notes that slowly fade to allow some ripe raspberry and cherry notes to emerge; underlying this is a hint of mineral/stone notes and some dried violet. The palate is still fairly structured, but has enough concentration to balance it and with food it is certainly enjoyable. Seems more Vosne to me than Chambolle given the spice and structure, but regardless it was tasty.

Brief memory; great nose with red berries just starting to show some secondary development. Palate was good, but seemed a tiny bit thin at the end. Good, but not great.

Popped and poured and could have done with some air. Very tightly wound pure Pinot fruit with a lot of matter. Some oak a lot of red fruit and elegance but needs time to own up .fine village wine.

Chambolle Musigny (Arlequin Wine Merchant, San Francisco): Medium center, lighter rim. Gamy and funky. Ripe start, brambly red fruit. Not overly tannic but good grip from acidity, excellent intensity for weight, soil filled finish. I was surprised at how drinkable it was for an '05, although it clearly will continue to soften and develop. This performed above its class and had the most tangy Chambolle character of all of the wines.

A pretty wine. Some bright cherry, strawberry and cola flavors with some light oak on the finish
