  • The bottle was in perfect condition, the filling-level was top shoulder, the cork was only 2/3 soaked. The wine was medium amber-gold in colour and offered floral notes, stone fruit, ripe apple, orange, a hint of ripe gooseberry, beeswax, wild honey, almond and some sherry as well as herbal notes, mild spice and a hint of mild tea on the nose and palate, with lively acidity, a good, slightly waxy mouthfeel and good length. The evolved, complex, medium- to full-bodied wine became nicely balanced after an hour in a small decanter. Impressive. Drink now.
