  • A Retsina made from Assyrtiko from vineyards located 140 meters above sea level, fermented and macerated with the skins. 13% alcohol, 4,8 g/l acidity, pH 3,4.

Hazy pineapple yellow color with subtly green highlights. Somewhat resinous but surprisingly fine-tuned and pleasant aromas of pine resin, some minty herbal tones, a little bit of mirabelle plums, light sappy willow bark tones and a hint of rosemary. The wine is medium-bodied, somewhat oily and quite complex on the palate with flavors of blood orange, some peachy stone fruit, a little bit of herbal rosemary character, light notes of ginger, a hint of phenolic bitterness and a touch of pine resin. The wine is firm yet quite smooth and softly-structured with its medium acidity and almost nonexistent tannins. the finish is dry, somewhat bitter and very long with complex, somewhat herbaceous flavors of ginger, some herbal rosemary and mint notes, a little bit of pink grapefruit, light sappy notes of green wood bark, a hint of resinous phenolic character and a touch of peach.

A complex, fascinating and delicious naturalist Retsina. Hands down the best example of Retsina I've ever tasted. It could certainly use a bit more acidity and I wouldn't mind some tannic grip either, but the wine is very rewarding all the same. Might not be the best food wine for those occasions that call for high acidity, but otherwise this was a lovely drop. Good value at 22,50€.
