Don't ask me if you don't want my answer says my wife when I asked her what rating to give this wine==she said 89, but she went on and on about how outstanding it was. I'm disregarding the low ball grade (I'm glad she is not my teacher) and judging it outstanding. Wish I had several more to see how they might age.

a very american oak driven, dill laden nose with white pepper red cherry. This wine needs a good hour decant as it showed more and more as the night wore on. The fruit seemed to emerge as the aggressive american oak receeded. On the palate there is a sweet barrel taste and sweet red cherry. At first acid was bittter but as the wine opened it freshened up which was a bit odd. Good concentration with some secondary hints of minerals and underbrush finishing on notes of raspberry. Medium length finish.

So fine. All the elements come together. Colson Canyon is a favorite. Great color (like a day at the beach).
