  • 10% abv. AP 9. This last bottle of the series is really good. It happens to be on the same table with other 2017s—JJ Prüm Auslese, elect Brunello—and dare I say it competes well. Red roses, red delicious apple peel, breezed red slope—tangled, wilted tendrils, of clover and yellow tobacco. Acidity is locked into paving stones. It's fresh and hyper drinkable. I take this as proof of 2017 merit as a vintage, and a sly indication of the inexhaustible reservoir of under-hyped German wine

24 hours later, still drinking really good
    ________
4 days later (96 hours) is it really drinking as well as I think it is? Or is this deliciousness due to the pairing, with chargrilled cheeseburger on rocket? Serving cold out of the fridge—it's gorgeous, perfectly balanced and fresh; it resonates with bedrock. If I didn't feel so alone in my fascination with this wine I might worry these words amounted to bragging.

  • The spine shows benign wear, into a looser arrangement of petrol, red pottery. cucumber, and green plum. Serve with buttered potatoes.

  • Slight gas. Perfect, nickel wash color. Strawberry syrup coming to the fore. In train, there's a parcel of wilted pear and twig. Outstanding.

with scratch flatbread filled with rescued pork loin, mushrooms, cheeses, and salsa ranchera.

  • 10% abv. AP 9. $16, a scandal! Stelvin closure. EYE: brilliant silver-gold. NOSE: withdrawn top notes of citrus, stone, and almond blossom. The decking is rainwater, racy, and broadly proportioned of bedrock. MOUTH: absolutely singing. Substantial, groomed texture. Slate veined with salt. Tart dessert apple, lime blossom, and bruised peach, finally with a pointillist lash of baking spice. As it drinks it yields green pineapple, blackberries, lime leaf, and cinnamon candy. Sugar, acid, and salt are in a seamless embrace. It's an astonishing item. I feel lucky to find it. 91+ points.
