Balanced and nuanced. Held up well against bottles three and four times its price point. Worth seeking out.
Monastrell is the Spanish name for Mourvedre, one of the classic grapes in southern Rhone wines. This one is mostly monastrell, but includes syrah and grenache.

This is/was one of my go-to value wines, but no longer available as they have changed the blend snd labeling after this vintage. Juicy, black berries, plum and smooth, with a nice bit of spice at the end. A nice drink and one I enjoy even more knowing the price I paid.

Popped and poured. A very bitter taste at finish. It softened a bit after opening, but still there, but not as prominent. Let it breathe before drinking.

Nice weekday Monastrel. Tobacco, cherry, wood on the nose. Light+ to medium bodied, with well integrated supple tannins. 15% alcohol makes the the wine run a little hot. This makes it a little jarring, given the light+ body. I am drinking this in summer which makes the alcohol content more noticeable than the previous time I had tasted this wine. WA 91 pts definitely generous.

Pleasant mix of dark and red fruits. Expressive nose and a smooth mouthfeel. Solid QPR
