  Greater Spotted Beaunes - Two 1999 1er Crus from each main commune in the Cotes de Beaune.. (David P's): This is a little dirty on pouring, some leathery / bretty notes. Possibly a slightly loose cork. A little brewed and not my thing. Others like it a bit more than me.

  1999 1er Cru Red Burgundies (East London): A hint of glue or some other chemical substance on the nose. Like light soap or something. Quite closed, blueberry aromas, but overall less expressive than the Bize alongside by some distance. Whilst the cork was in much better shape, we wondered if this was quite right? Nonetheless it was perfectly drinkable but just a bit subdued.

  vrij rood van kleur, ingetogen neus met wat rood fruit, mineraal, smaak is mooi fris met prettige structuur en mooie elegantie, wijn zit mooi in elkaar, rustig en bescheiden, maar wel met voldoende inhoud, prima in vorm

  rode kleur, neus is klein rood fruit, met duidelijk de mineraliteit, licht gekruid, smaak is met fraaie zuren redelijk fris en aantrekkelijk, slanke wijn met elegantie, mooie tannines, wijn komt nog jong over, nog ietwat ingetogen
