PnP, no decant needed. Opens with red and black fruit, cassis, cedar, spice, anise, plum on the nose. Lots of flavor with red and black fruit, cassis, anise, spice, slight herbal, and cedar. Medium body. Smooth tannins in a long finish.

Side by side tasting with a Mending Wall Tournahau '19. Both wines were given two hours slow ox. Seems like a fair comparison, given that the vineyards sit side by side at the north end of St Helena, and both are crafted by Thomas Rivers Brown. One of the better 17s that I have had, and this has certainly put on some weight and has achieved better balance since the last time I tried it. This is a dark, dense wine with deep, lush black and blue fruits, full bodied, great texture and a long finish. Plums, cassis and blackberry jam all present in spades. My favorite of the pair this night.
That all said, the 2019 that I had a few months back was even better
15 min splash decant. Deep black cherry color bordering on purple. Big sweet nose of blackberry, cocoa, honey, pastry and ground hazelnut. Taste is same with a definite Napa fruit forward punch. Has some residual notes of ash and quite a bit of acidity on the finish. Overall, a bit too sweet for my taste but has some nice chalky tannins on the finish. I suspect this will age well and become more balanced over time (like in a few years). For now 92. I saved a glass of this two days later and it had improved so if open now a long decant is recommended.
Solid Napa cab, dark plum, herbal, nice aroma after the alc blows off a bit. On the palate, good tannin and acidity, fruity, reasonable cab. Would be a lot better if the oak is not intruding. For this price, it is much worse than bdx wine at half the price. Not good QPR.
