  • ABV: 13.5%. Solid Viognier. Served it a little too cold, but was able to detect notes of stone fruits and honeysuckle with a hint of white pepper. Good mid-palate and lengthy finish. The fruit profiles became more prominent as it gradually warmed up, but this could use a few more years in the cellar for the acidity to integrate further. Note: Paired with oven-roasted salmon.

5/18/2021 - Raised the score by two points (from 92 to 94) after tasting it again on the second day. The fruits are more pronounced on the mid-palate and the acidity has integrated to create a more rounded mouthfeel. If you're planning to open this bottle within the next few years, I would recommend decanting it.

  • Pale gold. On the nose, Jessie got an interesting aroma that she called "salami" to start, which Max couldn't pick up at all, but it dissipated after about 15 minutes. Max said the nose was quite light and indescribable, while Jessie got hints of stone/tropical fruit.

Moving to the palate, we get the most pleasant part of this wine, which was the texture. We rarely comment on texture, but this time, the smoothness really impressed Jessie. Really light and airy and pleasant on the tongue. Otherwise, the flavors were not so distinct; it was dry with high acid compared to J's expectation for viognier, with what seems like a malolactic note. The finish was long and tangy.

This continued to change with the air, and was better on day two, for the record.
