First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield): "Served Blind. Lime, mineral notes, slight honey, slight ripe apple. Medium plus intensity acidity, crips green apple, a little texture, off dry. Very simple, quite lean. Very interesting. Riesling, entry level/poor site Mosel Kabinett or Spatlese about 5 years old."

Tour de Riesling (United Cellars, 140 William Street, Sydney): Ooh, first Kerosene of the day, this rather dominates proceedings but hiding beneath this a little apple and wet stone. Off dry with medium plus intensity acidity, rpe green apple over kerosene, tangy with apple skin grip. It's a bit like eating an apple after you've fiiled up the car.

The exact number tasted in Sydney, eternally engraved in my memory. Harvested from Polish Hill and made in a sweet Kabinett style. High, razor-sharp acid highlights the fruit gorgeously and is backed up by just the right amount of residual sugar. The sweetness is not here to overwork the wine. Its role is just to make it juicier and more concentrated. Drink this out of a faucet.

Very interesting Moselesque Riesling from SA. Perhaps a bit too much sweetness, but also just enough acid to balance it out, and with many more fruits than your usual barossa or Clare Riesling. Low alcohol, worth a try--amd probably has some time ahead of it.
