  • 400th tasting note on my CellarTracker!

Rich, dense black fruit and some smoke and leather on the nose. Vanilla and oak smoothens the tannins and medium length finish too.

75% grapes from Eden Vallet at 450m elevation, providing a bright backbone and acidity. 25% from Barossa, brings density and fruit forwardness too.

Mick Page is the winemaker and Kym Teusner the sales evangelist of this interesting Barossa winery... they started Teusner Wines only back in 2001.

It seems one day, they overheard a couple of grape farmers that they were thinking of removing their 85 year old Grenache vines. It was then when Kym and Mick made them an offer they could not refuse - Paying them 4 times what they had been offered by the big wineries!

This actually then led to Teusner Wines singular mission - to make the kind of wines that Kym and Mick liked to drink!

I love the part of the story which shares that these very same and other newer grape farmers are regularly and always welcomed in Teusner for a beer, and to taste the wines. Thus... Kym and Mick believe they can get some of the best grapes from the old Barossa vineyards!

Thanks to bro KJ for sharing this, quite a unique bottle by my humble palate.

  • Perfumed cassis fruits on the nose and in the mouth. It has some mint chocolate and is ripe and round but with nice detail and build.
