  • A slightly lesser showing than my previous bottle of the same cuvee but nevertheless, with air, captures the same essence of the wine. Nutty, buttery popcorn, yellow orchard fruits, ripe pears and yellow apples, lots of gunflint and chalk on the finish. As good as it gets, and I wish I can fast forward time 10 years to taste it again.

  • A complex nose of honeysuckle, flint, pineapple husk, white peach and preserved lemon. The palate was rich and layered and cut by a high-tensile, mineral spice. It had such great depth and drive and the finish powered on and on.

  • I’m finding this difficult to articulate. To call it the best wine I’ve tried from the Macon is selling it short. My best comparison is that it looks like a very, very good Meursault 1er if you need some context. Jeremy H mentions Coche below but my first thought was Lafon. Really delicious either way and has me rethinking Macon in general.

  • One of the best wines from not just the Maconnais but Burgundy as a whole. Previous tasters mentioned Coche and Lafon, I’d say a mix between the two. Similar to Coche in its flint, but rich on the palate like a Clos de la Barre. So much extract and power, yet impossibly balanced. Prices aren’t cheap, but when you compare it to the competition, these are a steal.

  • Complex aromatics of ripe orchard fruits, smoky mineral and nutmeg. The palate is so dense and sappy, possessing fabulous volume and the moth unctuous feel. For its sheer size and density it is not heavy in the slightest. It is built like red wines, it is built like Coche. The finish is chewy and incredibly long and fresh.
