Large-scaled and ripe, but with plenty of counterbalancing acidity. This doesn't feel anything like so many other 2016s, even if it is a little broad and ripe. Stony minerality and just the right amount of oak here. The kind of chardonnay I'd love to drink regularly.

Winemaker dinner with Giuseppe Vaira (RPM Steak - Chicago, IL): An impressive Macon with serious concentration and depth. Loved the matchstick reduction meets mineral and chalk on the nose and palate. Rich, round fruit with plenty of precision and length. A very successful 2016 Macon.

"Only for Sundays" (Chicago, IL): Outstanding weight and concentration here. Just the right amount of oak here for my palate, giving this a broad, rich style. This bottle is showing more acidity than I remember which belies the vintage, and there is enough ripe fruit to frame the structure. Really liking this.

Dead ringer for ripe vintage Côte de Beaune (probably Meursault). A good mineral hit on the nose, coupled with a modest amount of reduction and oak. On the palate, this is relatively low in acid, but it makes up for it by being thicc and concentrated. Lots of extract as well. An excellent chardonnay that easily plays at a Côte de Beaune 1er cru level.

Delayed entry. Quite good. Citrus. Lots of acidity. Drinkable now, but could probably use another 10-15 years to really hit its stride. 93-96.
