Community Tasting Notes (5) Avg Score: 90.2 points

  • Medium-light golden/straw color - some signs of age. Very thick viscous texture when poured into the glass. Nose - honeyed apple core, ripe pineapple, peach, passion fruit, white flowers, with a touch of petrol. The flavors intensify in the mouth with almost syrupy concentration and medium residual sugar, balanced by rich acidity with gently tingling/popping texture. Long consistent finish. It’s on a sweet side (a little sweeter than average “off-dry” wines), but still works with savory food - it might sound odd but it worked excellently with homemade pizza (enough concentration to withstand the sweetness/acidity of tomato sauce), and potentially many other foods. A bit reminds of Alsace Riesling VT and off-dry Jurancon at the same time (some people commented acidity being not enough - my take is, for a riesling it’s not as high as one might expect from a Mosel, but there are many other regions/varieties which achieve good balance with lower acidity). Richer than 10.2% abv suggests, very old-world tasting, thoroughly enjoyed.

  • I tried to like it. Just not enough acid for me to bring to honey sweet viscosity into check

  • I needed more acid on this one. High RS. Lots of honey and fruit cup syrup on the nose, grape candy on the attack. Long finish.

  • Followed over two nights. This wine is in a great place. A little petrol on night two, but round, ripe fruits on the nose and palate both nights. Full body, med sweetness with enough acid to compensate. Long finish. Highly recommended! Excellent 93.

  • Tasted at the winery. Has similar complexity to the '16, which was exquisite. Higher RS in this one, but that lends to an extra-long finish. Drinking very well, but we are guessing this can go another 5+ years. Excellent 93.
