“Mixed Bag of Barberas”-Tasting, Wine 3 (non-blind), in October 2013. The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered cherry, blackberry, plum, smoke, cocoa, gingerbread and vanilla on the nose. On the slightly spicy palate the wine showed cherry, blackberry, plum, cola, coffee, cocoa and vanilla, paired with medium-plus tart acidity, medium to medium-plus slightly chewy tannin, a creamy mouthfeel and very good length. The oak was not (yet?) perfectly integrated and rather prominent on the nose and palate, and overall the wine hence left me longing for more balance. A solid Barbera nonetheless. Drink now and over the next three years.
