14.5% alcohol by volume, deep ruby color. PnP. The nose shows black currants, dark cherries, oak. Mellow acidity and mellow tannins - the palate feels mature yet fresh with lots of dark cherries, anise seed, coffee grounds on the background, and a long ending with green vegetable notes. While it felt mature in structure it was young in flavor profile. Enjoyable now or with more time. Great with steak.

We drink a lot of these over the years. The 2016 in particular is very sensitive to even mild temperature shock, such as placing it in the fridge to cool it down a little. This causes it to shut down for some reason and decanting doesn’t solve the problem. It needs at least a day at a new stable temperature before it is back to itself.
If you have a bottle at room temperature and have no time to put it away for a day in your wine cooler, drink it as it is.
It needs decanting at this age and improves substantially after 45 min or so. Don’t try and refrigerate it afterwards to get it back to optimum temperature.
It shouldn’t make such a big difference on paper, but it does. This wine is temperamental.
Coravin. Pretty nose of dark cherries. Fresh on the palate, with enticing dark cherries and blackberries. The ending shows grippy tannins - together with mushroom, cocoa, a hint of anise maybe. Good already, better in 2-3 years. I like it.

Descent length and good balance. Slightly complex with dark berries and vanilla/barrique notes.

Great nose, but it doesn’t pan out. Sugar and rasp aren’t balanced out enough for a pay off.
