Boxing-day dinner wine. “Easy-going” wine. Needs some air/time for it to “show”; When I served this PnP’ed, wife “complained” that I had served her “cheap” insipid “industrial” wine 😅. Much better with air, but doubt it’ll improve significantly...

Popped an easy drink for a friend's visit. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour going garnet. Thin legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of garden flowers, damp soil, stemminess, cranberries. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium- alcohol (12.5%), low tannin, medium- body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of tangy orange peel, sweet strawberry, cranberry, damp soil, garden flower stems. Medium finish. Simple easy pleasant Pinot. Lovely casual drink. Drink now and over the next 2 years max. Not for ageing.

Medium pale ruby in colour with aromas of bright fresh red fruit, stewed strawberries & forest floor/earth. On the palate, fresh tart red fruit, mostly strawberry/red cranberry, savoury & earthy with high acidity & a low concentration of soft tannins. There is a long finish of tart red fruit transitioning to savoury/black pepper. This is well balanced excellent wine which evolved considerably after opening.

Attractive nose - a bit "natural'ish", followed by dash of angelica-root, red-berries, bits of sandalwood and smoke! Interesting, to say the least! Tasty, delicious and almost savoury, this beckoned one to keep going back for a sip. If there were a downside, it was probably a bit too "easy", and I was also wishing it had a bit more weight/density on the palate. This will be an interesting estate to follow, esp. when the vines gain more age...
