Dinner at Spinasse (Seattle, WA, USA): Pungent, some tropical fruit, passion fruit, very full mouthfeel but with wonderful acidity and finishing mineral, salty and fresh.

Selected for my Father's Day 2022 meal, a bit of Jeckel & Hyde with this wine. I get the curiosity, 90%+ Chardonnay and the balance Sauvignon Blanc in Barbaresco, seemed to jump back and forth between Sancere and oddly enough Albarino, and I never got the sense that this wine had a unique identity. Saline driven nose with citrus zest and some grassy-straw undertones, the palate is at first very melon driven with canned yellow peaches, limestone and grass before opening up with a brighter gooseberry note. Hints of MLF with bitter melon rind and used tea leaves on the fnish, like steeped then strained peppermint that is more herbal than minty after brewing. It wasn't terrible, but not thrilled I dropped 70 clams on this. B (86) evaluation.
