  • Tasted blind in VV.

Pale yellow-green color. Somewhat reductive nose of skunky Böckser and hard-boiled eggs along with vague aromas of sweet golden apples and a hint of ripe citrus fruits. The wine is dry-ish-to-off-dry on the palate with a crisp, acid-driven overall feel and bright yet slightly mute flavors of steely minerality, some tart green apples and a little bit of grapefruity citrus fruit. The high acidity keeps the wine wonderfully fresh. The finish is crisp and long, but also slightly reductive with reticent, slightly mute flavors of tart Granny Smith apple, some pithy lemon and a hint of skunky reduction.

Most likely this wine was just too young for its own good. It shows good sense of structure and the residual sugar boosts the fruit nicely without making the wine feel medium-dry, but the wine is just too darn reductive at the moment. The nose shows very little beyond Böckser and in the taste the fruit flavors are quite subdued. If opened now, the wine needs to be decanted for several hours. Hopefully the wine will open up and thus gets better with age. Let it wait for another 3-5 years. Feels pricey for its quality at 14,92€, at least at the moment.
