  • Bought this wine, along with Rosso and Brunello at Sesti Estate last year when we stayed there for a week in Tuscany.

Opened and poured at about 60 degrees. The nose was showing fresh fruit mixed with stones. Almost like a French Chenin Blanc. Palate presented slight acidity, grapefruit and tangerine with a stoniness that reminded me of Austrian Rieslings. The finish was very smooth, long lasting and complimented our various tapas and foods.

Enjoyed this wine immensely with our bruschetta (ricotta and parma ham), crab cake and pork bao with hoisin sauce. A great introductory wine for Tapas and pre dinner Hors d' oeuvres. Probably the best price value I have consumed this year. Can't wait for opportunities to drink the remaining bottles.

  • Taste Italian Wines (San Diego Wine & Beer Co.): WAY too cold

Frt of 15 yr old vines from a 0.5 ha, S-facing vyd with oceanic, sedimentary soils @ 350m elev, & yielding ≈ 8 metric tons/ha; S/s only, with typically NO malolactic; 12.5% ABV

N: Slightly closed; Forest floor morphing into pears with notes of grass & a general earthiness

P: LM bish frt off-set by an acidity which deftly leads the way ody; Nice, ALMOST swtish frt off-set by an acidity which deftly leads the way into a LONG, balanced, POSS very, VERY slightly bitterish finish with a tangy/swtness. For now & through '21. Nice enough, but weak QPR (cf'd to other sources of S.B.) has it trending towards the lower of my VG+/EXC-. [This vendor's $19.99 *does* compare favorably to the importer's $25.]
