  Has improved some since the last one, I considered rating it 92. 13.5 abv, my favorite alcohol level for a red. Dried red cherry, worn leather, earthy notes, rose petal.

  Nice young Brunello that needs a couple of hours to open up. Great Qpr that drinks way above it price. Lower acidity suggests the it may not age as well as other Brunellos. Glad I bought a bunch that I'll drink over the next 10 years.

  My first taste of the Caparzo 2016. I didn’t expect a lot, this is very early in the drinking window, but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a table wine, best with red meat, pasta, or charcuterie. The nose is fairly complex with scents of lighter fruit, raspberry, cherry, and strawberry. The palate is firm and elegantly integrated with herbal accents and powdery tannins. Tuscan wines (mostly made with Sangiovese grapes) have a very distinctive character, not fruit driven, unlike California or Australian wines, for example. When I began to explore wines many years ago, I didn’t like them. It’s taken a while for me to come around, but I’ve come to appreciate their unique character. There is more in the cellar, but I think this Brunello will reward patience.
