This was delicious and easy to drink, but given the serious lees influence I'd have landed on white Burgundy if blinded. Reminded me a little of a recent hipster Bourgogne-Aligoté I had in Madrid, although this was less hazy, a little more linear. I would buy again at original pricing, but newer vintages are up 60%. Not sure if that's coming from producer or importer.

Made from 100% Melon de Bourgogne, vines planted in the 1940's on gabbro, a basalt-like rock formation which is a continuation of the volcanic 'Massif Armoricain', 14 months in natural cement (chalk-clay) eggs, 12% ABV. The minerality is palpable, especially the finish is like liquid rock, the aromatic expression is relatively modest, citrus and sea breeze, but the intensity and drive are very impressive; it is very youthful but it comes across as relaxed rather than tight because of the micro-oxygenation in the cement vats. This introverted, intellectual wine is an essence of Muscadet which matches top-notch Chablis for quality, but could only ever come from the pays Nantais. Drink around 15°C / 59°F.

Great wine, very young, so quite tight. Blind no one would guess Muscadet. In a completely different league. I'll buy more
