Now that Kirk & Denise have sold the winery I feel like I should hoard WesMar, especially the flagship Hellenthal, and I will, starting tomorrow. Tonight I’m celebrating their closing out 20 years of running a true family winery.
Nose is a dusty, dark cherry and red delicious apple. It comes hard given that the wine has only spent 3 years in bottle. Entry is more dark cherry with plum and cranberry Tart finish.
Very enjoyable now but I would push the prime spot back to 2024 and the end of the drinking window to 2030. It easily has the stuffing to go that far if not more.
Bon Voyage Mr. & Mrs. Hubbard!

And....she gone! Loved this Pinot from WesMar and guzzled the last bottle of it. Not really, but I did enjoy the ones I had on the young side. Dark, savory cherry fruit with a glorious mouthfeel. Perfect weight and body. A bit of cherry pit and forest floor in this one as well. Darker but not brooding. Called Kirk and Denise at the winery to restock on the 17's...alas, this one is sold out!

Great fruit profile. Cherry and red plum with a bit of spice. Outstanding mouthfeel and texture. Nice savory element that adds depth and complexity. Very enjoyable bottle- although I can’t remember a WesMar that wasn’t.

Dark Sonoma fruit with black mulberry, black plum and dark cherry. Lovely on the palate with a silky entry and delicious profile. Not heavy at all but packed with flavor. Mouthfeel is wonderful and this will only get better with additional time.
