Jeremy's Riesling Dinner (Hawthorn): Slightly (and, with air, increasingly) exotic nose with a touch of slatey reduction. Clean and linear and full of dry extract, with a grassy flavour and rather bitter, challenging finish. This classy wine slowly opened up in the glass and surely has a long life ahead; I'll try to leave my other bottle at least five years.

More of a shining gold than the prior, paler wines. Wow! What a huge petrol-accented nose - so aromatic. Big on the palate, caraway-spiced, and fans out and fills the mouth with bittersweetness, and a lovely water-like finish. Lots of presence, but refreshing as well. Excellent

Mineral nose, you can tell the wine will have a saline finish. Lots of peaches, some residual sugar. Nice wine.

A lot of petroleum - probably from a few years in the cellar. Well balanced fruit and acidity. Very nice overall

Weingut Heymann-Löwenstein: The sound of slate with Sarah Löwenstein (Zoom!): Red slate in this section of the vineyard. This gives depth, impact and seriousness.
