Really bright, pure fruit. The tannins were mellow for a while. Eventually, they clamped down the finish. A very tasty Neirane with lots of upside potential.

Pretty and mostly bright color. Red fruit with a good dose of spice on the nose. Upon entry, it seems lively but then the flavors become a bit round. Tannic and somewhat closed. The fruit is very attractive.

From Neirane Cru located in Verduno. Fermented and macerated with the skins for 3 weeks in stainless steel. Aged for 6 months in barriques and then for further 24 months in 2000-liter Slavonian oak botti casks. 14,5% alcohol. Tasted blind.
Translucent raspberry red color with a slightly developed brick-orange hue and a thin, colorless rim. The nose feels fragrant and perfumed - yet not particularly open - with quite gentle, subdued aromas of violets and roses, cloudberries, some brambly raspberry, a little bit of smoke, light gamey tones, oaky hints of vanilla and cigar box and a touch of licorice root. The wine is silky smooth, juicy and full-bodied on the palate with nuanced, sweet-toned flavors of succulent plummy fruit, ripe black cherries, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of alcohol warmth, light jammy red fruits and a hint of prune. The overall feel is quite soft and plump, thanks to the medium acidity and quite well-behaved, ripe tannins that slowly pile up on the gums. The finish is ripe, moderately grippy and slightly warm with medium-long flavors of ripe dark plums, some wizened dark berries, a little bit of sour cherry bitterness, a hint of vanilla oak and a touch of savory wood spice.
A richly fruited, round and supple Barolo that seems to suffer from the warm 2015 vintage, making the wine feel a bit too sweet, soft and high in alcohol. The ripe tannins bring some welcome firmness to the wine, but otherwise it feels a bit too soft, mellow and sweet-toned for my taste. I can imagine this could be a very lovely, harmonious and perfumed Barolo in a cooler vintage, but now the wine leaves a rather lukewarm impression. Nothing too memorable.

Not offensive… but not well balanced.
