From Trader Joe's. I have had this same wine in 06, 08, and 09, but this is first 13. Dark cherry, coca cola, cocoa, tea leaves, and rusty nails. Drying, alcoholic. Missing that brunello elegance. This is surprisingly rustic bordering on dirty. The more I drink, the meaner it gets. Would have better a couple years ago I think, but not completely sure. I enjoyed the older vintages (above) of this wine quite a bit more.

Lacks the bold expectation. Decanting failed to bring out any full flavour. See update below
(Updated review).. I came back to this bottle nearly 18 hours after it had siting in a decanter. There was one full glass left and I had it the following day originally open... This had become the wine that I had expected! Take the time to wait and let this Wine open. It is worth the wait or if you don’t have time - drink something else

Agree with the other notes. Not the best brunello by any means, but for $20 you get the dry, leather, currant and red cherry fruit, nicely complex on the nose if not that intense, brick red rim and centre. Overall, a pretty tasty experience for under $20 at TJ's. Would buy again.

Med (+) garnet, fading a little on the rim. Med (+) aromas of ripe red cherry, black plum, earth and subtle oak spice. Dry, with med to med (+) acidity, med to med (+) tannins and med (+) to high alcohol (14%). With a full body, med to med (+) flavor intensity and length, this 2013 seems more youthful yet more generous and rounder than the 2011 after a comparable period of aging. Drink now, or hold for a couple more years to allow it to develop more tertiary characteristics. Doesn't quite have the tipicity of Brunello, but can't argue with the QPR at TJs.
