P: Med body; Rndish entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by an astringent PUCKER which stays within hailing distance of the init frt as it transitions into a LONG finish with a TANGY/swtness (65:35) with an ult pleasantness to the FEW, *totally* innocuous, yet still firming, very, VERY fine tannins. Went well with the night's IT Sausages & almost sensationally with the Spinach Stuffed Ravioli, both in Marinara Sauce. Should improve over the next yr or so, then drink into '24? My EXC-/EXC; // Day 3: Still slightly closed aromatically, though the blk cherries are now > prominent. Ditto Day 1's P, & with NO degradation WHATSOEVER poss even showing SOME improvement?)! Plus, went quite well with Rice, Refried Beans, & Grilled Skirt Steak! ∑: My EXC-/EXC, but trending towards the higher *particularly* IF one can give this 12-18 addt'l mos of cellar time. Contest Results:: '19: Golds @ CA State Fair & Critics Challenge, + Silvers @ Dan Berger Int’l & S.F. Int’l; '20 (early): Gold & “Best of [Charbono] Class” @ S.F. Chronicle, +Silvers @ Winemaker’s Challenge & TEXSOM Int’l! [As of late May '20, wine-searcher shows no available sources for this vintage, the winery possibly releasing their '18 on Sept 1st?].
