  • Nice reserva, a bit too much barrel taste. Full dense and oervall a well-made wine.

  • 14,5 % Alc.

  • Certainly a well-made wine, just not my preferred style (overly oaked). An unblended Tinta del País wine, aged for 22 months in new French barriques, followed by a further 12 months refinement in the bottle before release. Color: deep ruby-red. Nose: medium intense bouquet of red berry fruit, leather, tobacco and nuances of oak and vanilla. On the palate: rich red and black fruits, quite resolved tannins but the oak-influence is way too dominant for my taste. A bottle for lovers of oaky wines.

  • Lush purple in colour, bright and clear. On the nose there are lashings of sweet oak, with cherryish fruit following on. The palate tells a similar story, with the fruit initially subservient to the oak, but gradually taking centre stage. There's some minerality for balance, and fine tannins underlying the fruit in the very long finish. I don't understand the low scores other tasters have given this; for me it's pretty irresistible. Maybe some think the vanilla-oak is too prominent, and I suppose if you don't like that style this would be best avoided. I reckon there's a place for such wines, and the place is on my table next to this beef rib. I've had a couple of earlier vintages, and 2015 seems to me just as enjoyable. Recommended. 14.5%, cork.
